GPU only outputs through dvi

I recently built a gaming rig with an EVGA GTX 460 2win in it. I wanted to tansfer some files from the old computer (didn't work, see http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?p=34129133#post34129133) to the new one. Lugged it down the stairs, so I didn't want to bring the monitor with, so I just used the DVI cable from the other monitor. Brought it back to my usual monitor (actually a cheapo Dynex tv, but it scales to 1920x1080 nicely), now it's running off the DVI even though an HDMI is plugged in. Runs low-res in safe mode throufh HDMI, but I can't do anything with that. How can I get the gpu to start outputting through the HDMI again?
