Hey guys, having an issue with my video cutting out. When I log in to a game, WoW specifically, it will intermittently cut the screen out and then come back around to desktop and say the driver failed then recovered and then it will tell me that wow-64.exe was blocked from accessing the display driver. I tried changing the power setting from adaptive to max performance reading somewhere that that could be an issue but now am stumped. Its pretty random as it can happen 10 sec into the game or an hour.

Now here is where it gets weird. I bought the cards from a friend and they worked fine in his rig. I initially installed them in my rig in SLI and they worked awesome a day or so then I started having this same issue sans the error codes I got. I ran the cards separately and isolated the issue to one card. My buddy is going to take them back and warranty them and I thought I was going to be all good then. Well just last night now this started happening to the card I have been running the last few weeks.

Where should I look next? I am out of my league now diagnosing this so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced. Rig spes in sig.
 
I've never even heard of that error before. A game being blocked from accessing the driver?

Blocked by what? Your firewall? Or the OS?
 
I believe it just says Windows has blocked the application. It wont let me click on the warning or anything to get more information from it. I will try to screenshot it tonight for you to look at, I'm working now so it will be a while yet.

that is a pretty unique problem you got there. can you provide us like a screenshot of that?

what are the steps you have tried so far? have you tried uninstalling all the drivers and doing a driversweeper to clean and do a fresh installation?

Usually if a driver fails, the game crashes and then a exclamation encased in a yellow triangle will say that the driver has crashed and recovered..

But I've never heard about Windows blocking a game from accessing a driver in all my years of PC gaming 😱

That said, I agree with the above poster. First thing to do is to start changing drivers. You might also use the Event Viewer function to get a more accurate description of the error itself.

So last night I fired it up and tried to get a screen shot and didn't have very good luck. I took your advice and used Driversweeper as when I went in to task mngr I noticed some active AMD stuff. I ran driversweeper on the Nvidia and AMD drivers and then re-installed the Nvidia ones. I then was able to get in 2 hours of play time with no issues. I will "test" further tonight 😀 . And then I will also test with SLI set up and make sure that other card is good/bad before I send them in for warranty. Thanks guys, I will let you all know the outcome.
 
Well it is still definitely happening. I got a screenshot of the driver failure and some other weird things that are happening. Also took a video on my phone I will try to post it up.
