GPU is crapping out on me

Now that I got BF2:SF my video card is starting to act stupid. Before when I would load BF2 there would be a momentary "lag" when I first entered the map and my framerates would drop from like 49.8/21.2 to 15.0/66.7 and then would resume normally around 40-50FPS. HOwever for the last 3 maps i've play when I am sitting in the menu screen to choose my squad and weapons kit the FPS is 50-70/15-20. and when I load the game it sits at 15.0/66.7 and never goes back to normal. This is very frustrating because I instanly die and it pisses me off. I've been able to play the same level before with no problems and haven't done anything new to my card. Any thoughts.....!!

I don't play BF2 but that sounds like a problem with the software that they'll probably patch.

Try installing new GPU driver, or go to EA's site for support.

Your sig says you have a bad psu, your system isn't overly power hungry, but "it came with the case" psus are so bad it could still be the problem. Your computer is drawing the most power when the cpu and gpu are under full load, so maybe your 6800 is throttling. Then again BF2 is a hog and 1GB isn't always enough RAM. If you have a creative card get the lated audigy drivers (the betas that support openal).

What I don't get is that I'm not drawing a significant amount more power running special forces than I am running BF2 if any at all so I don't see why it would be the PSU's fault.

If my 6800 is throttling what do you suggest???

Also they just Patched BF2 about 2 weeks ago, I haven't seen hardley any changes.

No creative audio card.

no one has any other related problems.

I tried running BF2 last night not SF and it was a little better.

I also had had my video cards extra pixels unlocked and I restored it back to 12v5 instead of 16v6 and it kinda fixed it but not significantly.

WHen I would enter a vehicle or join a map the screen would go black and then come back up with the map or vehicle view present. Any thoughts
