As per the title, this GPU, which serves my needs just fine, and now that I've upped the fan speed a bit, runs cool....came with this system.

I have the Lynnfield i7 870, so I need discreet graphics.

Not all Radeon HD 4550 cards have these two or only these two outputs.

Who uses Video Display and if anyone does, why do they?

I found this, but it din help be understand; how many monitors employ display port?? Almost none? And yet, it says DP has advantages over DVI.

DisplayPort is a digital display interface developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association(VESA). The interface is primarily used to connect a video source to a display device such as a computer monitor, though it can also be used to carry audio, USB, and other forms of data.[2]

Thank you!

dvi can be converted in to vga, and hdmi and display port to dvi and hdmi...

there is no reason to add other outputs.

Thanks for yr input.

So, I could get a display port to HDMI adapter? Or cable?

I already have a DVI to VGA adapter somewhere from a while back, but that's not the issue.

So, are U saying display port output is always converted? And that it can be is why Mfgs choose it?

Any modern monitor with any modern GPU will use Displayport or two. Its royalty free. My U2412M doesn't even have HDMI. And VGA, let it die like XP.

I just read more on Wiki....now learning lots of stuff re display port. See, neither of my very basic, but fine for me Acer screens has DP. Nothing to be ashamed of. At all.

And some new cards still have VGA.

I like Windows 7 a lot, but pls not to be too cavalier re XP. A lot of the world will go on running it for many reasons. Always good to be sensitive and savvy re the Big Picture. Lest we create little internal ghettos which hobble.

Are you a realtor? If so, bet U R a real go getter re high ticket properties.
