Updating drivers doesn't usually fix driver problems, unless the problem happened to be because of that current driver version.

A complete clean-out of the driver files is needed to make sure it's not a driver problem.

Uninstall all Nvidia related software/drivers FIRST. Then run Driver Sweeper (it's free), restart and install the new drivers.

Heh, I had an 8800GTS 640MB that did the same thing. I also took it apart cleaned it put it back together and nothin (and tried few other things). By then I was able to get a 4850 512MB for 80$ so thats what I did (was like 3 years ago now? Those stupid cards are just now coming back to that price) Ended up smashing the fuck out of it with my clubbing utensile then drug it behind my car with a dead keyboard stuck in the trunk (tied it to the PS2 cord).

The 4850 moved on to a newer machine and I ended up going back to an 8800GTS 320MB. Its now starting to act up. 60c idle at 70% fan. If I try any gaming fan goes 100% and temp quickly jump into the 90s. Thats with 4 120mm fans blowing on it.

The 4850 though shits itself every 20 minutes or so saying the driver crashed and has recovered...sometimes it doesnt and just black screens/freezes. Still no solution found for that. So it seems nobody can make a card that can play a game worth a damn lol.

What Im saying is any solution you may find is most likely temporary...seems GPUs just fall apart. So you probably want to start sticking away 5$ a week or something if you can. 50-60$ can get you a replacement card as good maybe better.
