GPU for Ultra Wide monitor?

Thinking of upgrading my monitor to something that can be seen clearer from the other side of the room when watching films. I'm considering something Ultrawide, preferably IPS. But I am wondering how much GPU grunt I'd be likely to need for playing games at maximum detail.

Does anybody own an Ultrawide who can give me an idea of what to expect?

looks like most are 2560X1080. Look at GPU performance @ 1440P (2560X1440) and add maybe 10% FPS since you have less pixels to push. I can tell you from owning a 1440P monitor that your gonna need a damn beefy card if you want to run everything at max. 780, 780TI, 290, or 290x

Its 25% fewer pixels... either way it will take more than a 670 for max detail. 780+ etc.
