I am planning to build my first HTPC
as usual i know the first build you make in a new thing is always wrong. You emphasizes at the wrong points.

what i want the pc to be able to do.
1)play all video formats
2)play the television signal from an internal tv tuner
3)record the television signal from the internal tv tuner

so i was thinking a solution like amd e-450 but i just do not know if it can cut it as cpu and gpu power.

other thought was an i3 with an amd 6450 or nvidia 210
both cards selected for the low tdp.

so which gpu will be better for the task
amd 6460
nvidia 210
i3 hd2500
igpu of the e 450??
or maybe wait a few months for the upgrade of brazos cores with the jaguar cores?

um someone correct me if I am wrong but for HTPC all you need is HDMI... It's going to your TV right?

Then you need need one of those new tuner cards. I know my old one doesn't work anymore.

actually i will use a computer monitor thats why i am using the tv tuner card
so i can see the television and record the signal.

Any of the Intel or AMD processors with built in GPU will do. Maybe ask this question in the HTPC section.

The AMD 6450 (and 65xx and 66xx) have UVD3 which is the newwest decoder from AMD. The 7000 series cards also have UVD3 but cost more so stay with the low 6000 series unless you plan to game.

For Nvidia you would need to get the GT640 or higher to get their latest decoder and the GT640 and up are not as cheap as the low level 6000 amd cards.

Not sure what intel has but I would skip them dues to driver issues. As much as fanboys complain about AMD/Nvidia neither as bad as intel when it comes to drivers.

I have a GT640 in my HTPC but that was because my GT240 went bad and they were out.

Now if you want all in one then get a Trinty CPU. It has UVD3 and all of them should have plenty of power to HTPC.
