I'd like to stay at or below $300, but I need a GPU for BF2. You can check the link in my sig for the details of my rig, but it's an AMD 64 3500+ Venice with 1GB PC2700 RAM (I know I know...). I'm not really into exotic cooling solutions, so please keep that in mind with your suggestions. I have good airflow in the case, but the last thing I want to worry about is heat. I'm not an overclocker and I like to play it pretty safe with my system.

Thanks guys!

This post is best suited in Video or General Hardware.

Having said that, you've got plenty of choices under $300.

Sorry about that... I wasn't sure which category would be best (and I didn't want to cross-post), and because it was BF2-specific, I stuck it here. Is there a way for me to move it or do I need a mod to do it?

Just sent a PM to Anandtech Moderator....if they are online, they move it in a matter of minutes.

Welcome to AT! :)

6600GT, 6800GT, Radeon X800XL.

All 3 come in AGP or PCIe flavors, are under $300, and will play Battlefield 2 at maximum settings providing you have enough ram.

Show me where you can get a PCI-e 6800GT for under $300 including tax and shipping. I am skeptical.

The guys profile shows a PCI-e board.

6800GT /Ultra or 7800..
game is Nvidia Optimized and peeps are reporting issues with ATI cards so thats what I recommend.
also get anothe gig of ram.. and you should be on DDR400 3200 with that system..
thats another bottleneck..

If your primary game will be BF2, go Nvidia. 6800GT is faster than the X800XL in BF2.
