Hi all,

I am building a new gaming PC. My specs are:
processor- i5 760
mobo - asus P7H55EVo/asus P7P55D
ram - 4GB
HDD - 1TB
PSU - 450W/500W (Depending on the requirement)
monitor- Samsung B2030
SyncMaster™ 20" widescreen monitor. Its native resolution is 1600x900 @ 60/75Hz.

I need suggestions for the GPU that will give me a smooth gameplay experience(average 35-45fps). I will like to play the latest games on high settings(max AA & AF). I am not planing for a Crossfire/SLI any time soon. But will overclock the GPU slightly(if required). I dont want a GPU that will be overkill for my resolution. My budget for the GPU is $200 max.

I have a thought about HD5770 1Gb, GTX460 780MB & GTX 460 1GB. But i cant decide which one will be perfect for my system & my requirements.

Please help me to choose the GPU.

Thanks in advance to all who will reply to this post......

GTX460 1GB or wait for HD6850/70 for about 1 month or so.

For PSU, I strongly recommend getting at least a 550W+. Spend the extra $10 today and it will let you upgrade to a wider variety of videocards down the line. Generally speaking, the trend for videocards is increasing power consumption in the last 5-10 years. 5950Ultra needed about 80W, while 6800 Ultra only needed 130W. Now most modern videocards are in the 150-200W range.

For the PSU, go with proven brands like Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, Seasonic, XFX, Enermax, etc.

Corsair 650W for $70.

Since the monitor is going to outlast all of your other PC components (trust me!), get the best one you can afford (I suggest grabbing a 23-24 inch at minimum considering you can find them for $200-250).

Maxing out games with max AA will require the fastest card you can afford. The fastest card close that that target is currently the GTX 460 1GB.

If you can wait a few weeks, please do. There is a very strong chance you will regret a max $200 video card purchase now. Anybody rushing you is a fanboy.

This is what I mean.

NOBODY here can say with certainty what are the performance levels of the new AMD video cards.

If they are same as the present ones, you will pay present prices.

If they are faster, you will pay (AMD) the same for more performance, or, (Nvidia) will pay less for the same performance as before. We will know in 2-3 weeks.

In any case you don't lose anything but time, but can gain something.

Beware of salesmen. Don't be rushed IF you can wait.

Seeing that you are advising someone to spend their money on a certain card and implying that AMD new generation cards are in trouble, will you be willing to make a hard prediction? You seem to imply that you know the facts and seeing as how one can always find a website to promote any position, no matter how ridiculous, will you personally please make available the performance levels of the soon to be released AMD cards.
