I want to buy a gpu and will run it for 1year minimum with my current config...So suggest a good GPU which can play new games like MW3,BF3,etc without any prob with that resolution.

Here are my current specs :

17" CRT (1024 x 768 )
amd athlon x3 445 rana 3.1 ghz
2x2gb 1333mhz RAM
asus m4n68t-m le v2 mobo
250w psu

At 1024x768 . . . I think any semi-decent video card is going to handle that just fine. Thats a very low resolution and won't make a moderately powerful card break a sweat.

A 6770 / 7770 would be a great choice to run smoothly with high quality settings at 1024 x 786.

This will be a problem:

250w psu? get a 7750 and call it a day. The 6870 and 560ti won't work with that psu. You may be able to scrap thru with a 6850/7770, but it is overkill for that res and your psu won't like it either.

A 6850 would most definitely kill a 250w PSU, and the 7770 would give it fits. The very best you could use with it would be a 7750. Honestly I would suggest getting something like a passively cooled 6570 -- weak as it is, even it should play games well at 1024x768.

7750 is very low power (50w or so IIRC), yet quite powerful at that res. Still, a 250W PSU is a bit sketchy. Need more info on it

For 1024x768? Even a 7750 is too much. Save some money and grab a 6670 or 6570.

Well, better have more performance and be able to use it with a higher res monitor (like 20" 1600x900) down the road.

just my opinion ;)

A fair opinion. But it's a 1024x768 monitor and an Athlon X3 processor - I'm thinking budget is of paramount concern here.

It is that BF3 in the mix that makes me recommend the HD7750. But as you say, if the budget is the first concern then yes the 6670 will be fine.

Tiny PSU.... but you probably want something like a 7750.

They use like 50watts TPD (max) (like ~30watts for gameing) and could probably give you around 60+ fps with "good quality" in BF3 and 1280x1024 (and lowish AA levels)

@ 1024x768 the CPU will also become a factor as its a pretty low resolution. just fyi!

I won't bother with getting a better psu. Your current psu should be ok for a card < 75 watts. get the 6670 or 7750, put the rest for a new computer later.

How many 6 pin PCI-Express connectors are on your existing power supply, if any?

I'm going to guess one, max.

is this some oem 250 watt psu? if it is then "250 watts" is not what you have. you probably have about 9-10 amps available on the 12v line in realistic conditions. you will need a new psu no matter what video card you go with.

a 6670 and new high quality 400 watt psu sounds like a decent plan.
