GPU drivers question

I am getting ready to upgrade to a 6 series card from a 4850 and i cannot find the drivers in the remove program panel.
Someone told me that win7 automatically installs the drivers and keeps them in the windows file.
Is it necessary to delete these and then install new drivers or just install the new drivers?

While not necessary it is always best to remove an older driver first. It has been a few years since I owned an ATI/AMD card, but if I recall they offer a small program called ATI Uninstaller which removes all traces of any ATI software on your system. Check the main website.
