GPU core question

Have a GTS in my other system which I took the heatsink off to put some ASII on. Anyway is it best to put a thin layer just like you do a CPU core? Oh yeah and what exactly is the gold colored thing in the top corner of the GPU is it real important? Because I got a little ASII on it and when I scrubbed it to get the ASII off it kind of rubbed the sides off. But there is still plent of gold colored like stuff in the middle.Either way it seems to be working good.

yup, do it just like a cpu. i imagine the "gold" thing is a trace of some sort. is it the real big wide thing? like this?
that the gold thing? not sure what it is, but looks important 🙂 make sure you get the asii off completely. take some isopropol alcohol to it also.
what does this mean?

<< when I scrubbed it to get the ASII off it kind of rubbed the sides off >>

the sides of the gold thing?

when you say "it seems to be working good" does that mean you fired it up and it's working? if so, nothing to worry about 🙂

Yeah thats what I am talking about. I used a lint free cloth and some alcohol to remove the ASII. some of the gold on the sides came off and are black. But there is still plenty of gold color left of there. Will hurt it in the long run(later on)? Yeah I booted my system up and it posts and everything. Plays games just fine.

what are you talking about it was already obsolete when the Ultra came a year ago 🙂. Anyway I'll use it till I either give it away or it blows up one 😀.

Does any techs here know exact what the gold thing is and if some of it is removed could it hurt it later on(within the next year)
