Hi Guys

I'm finally finishing my rig. Ill get a second 4850 512mb for crossfire, a X3 720 BE, Board i still don't really know yet and 8 GB of Ram.

Anyway, the real question is. My Gpu is idling at 64º and topping at 100º during a decent gaming session. My case is a NZXT Lexa with decent cooling. I have the stock cooler on my GPU, wicth it is not that good. I was checking what was available in my area and i found this ones at a very nice price:

Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev.2

Im thinking 2 for the CF. Being silent is a big plus, becausemy hardware must have the Wife Seal of Aproval. i've read some reviews, and newegg reviews, but some info first hand would be nice. Anybody here have this coolers on their rigs ?

If so, are the temps any decent versus the stock cooling ? Or just a waste of money ? Or are just too big and you can't plug the CF bridge ?

Thanks in advance for the input.

That cooler is nice but be aware that it sticks out taller than the card by an inch or so. If you want to crossfire two cards you will need a longer and flexible crossfire bridge.

I'm waiting for a "official" reply from Arctic Costumer support. Altough i agree with you, i think they are too big.

The problem is, i have no idea where to get a longer and flexible CF bridge. I'm in Spain, so some thingies are hard to come by. Ill keep waiting, and ill post their offical reply. The coolers are cheap, and seem pretty good vs normal/stock cooling.

Try turning fan speed up manually in your driver settings first, stock cooling is better then most people think.

Even with the stock cooler maxed out at 100% my MSI 4850 (with the single slot ATI cooler on it) was topping 100c during heavy loads. I stuck one of those Accelero S1's on it and never looked back. With a 120mm fan strapped to this thing and core speeds of 775Mhz (volts at 1.25) I rarely top 60c under 100% GPU usage and long periods of gaming. It's a great cooler that's for sure.

If you need lower temps, low noise and dual-slot, you could look at the Akasa Vortexx Neo. It's compatible with the 4850, is reputed to be nearly silent, does a good job at cooling and I believe it's dual-slot, so you should still be able to run Crossfire. As a bonus, it's a DHES design so any heat generated by the GPU is directed outside the case instead of recirculating it inside which would raise the temps for all your other components. And since you plan on running Crossfire, that's two video cards worth of heat your system wouldn't have to deal with.

Well, that Akasa ins't available here in Spain. I'm still waiting for a offical Arctic reply.

One that is available, and at a decent price is Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo

Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo:

Nothing really good, but not terribly expensive and somewhat silent and available. Anybody used this one btw ?

Thank you all for the input.

The twin turbo is basically an S1 but with two fans and a stupid plastic shroud. I would take any day the S1 and put an 120mm fan onto it, as quiet or loud as I want to, instead of the twin turbo. And it would still cost less too.

I totally agree. The thing is:

S1 : 215x138x33
TT: 212x103x54

I still have to measure my GPU, but i think the TT will fit in a crossfire config. Ill use this MB: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P. Ill only have a 1xPCIE free, but hey, i don't need nothing else.

I can always sell my 4850 and got for a 4870 CF. they are fairly cheap now, about 155? a piece.

Well, thanks for the input guys.
