GPU Client Issue

My Socket 939 rig is running an Athlon 64 X2 4200+, mildly overclocked at 2.5 GHz, with no EUEs, FILE_IO errors, etc, and is running the SMP client happily.

I just installed a 9600GSO (not the crippled kind 😉) and started using the GPU client there, and for some reason, things get weird when it's running, whether it's the console or tray client.

1. Screen refreshes become SLOW. Scrolling pages in Firefox, I can visibly see it redraw every quarter of the page. Also, if I Win+D or just click show desktop, I can see it drawing icons.
2. General crappy slowness.
3. Subpar PPD.

I think a lot of people get caught off guard when they see that graphic performance is affected. Especially on the lower end cards. They only have so much resource to draw on.

If you haven't tried already:

Set the GPU priority to a "little higher" in the configuration.

Run only the GPU to see if it does better PPD than just the SMP.

Can the GPU client CPU usage be set to like 90%?
