I am planning on upgrading GPU...Not immediately, though. When would be a good time to buy? Want to play Skyrim modded, Witcher 2 and TW3.
Which vid card best bang for buck to play those games? Do not care if it's AMD or Intel. Or should I xfire 7870? Do not want to spend over 450.00.

Graphics card: MSI Radeon HD 7870 Hawk Mobo:Asus P8Z77-V Pro

LGA 1155
RAM GSkill Ripjaws 8 gig CPU Intel core i5 3570k Ivy Bridge 3.4 Ghz (OC 4.4ghz)

PSU Seasonic x650w gold Hard drives : Plextor M5 Pro 256 and WD BLACK 1 TER
Monitor: Asus VH 238H 150.00 Case: Cooler Master Haf 922
OS: Win 7 64
This is a fan cooled case.

Is that a 2gb 7870?...i believe modded skyrim might eat up all that memory so 2 might be pointless...
If I were you, I would just get a 3Gb 7950 or 7970 and sell your existing.

Providing you want to spend money for a bordering Hi-Perf all around Gaming GPU with the equipment you have; I say look at the AMD Radeon 384 Bit/GDDR5 3GB HD 7950 for under $300 (The Best Card per Perf/Cost on the Market with out a doubt) or a 7970 for under $400 - Providing you're not entirely into gaming a used $30 nVidia 512Bit/1GB GDDR3 GTX 280 from eBay will do, as it's equivalent to a modern $200 286 Bit/GDDR5 1GB card.

It doesn't make sense to me and I don't know CRAP.

Perhaps some of our nVidia GTX Ti savoy Members can give you alternative advise.

I don`t know nothing

If you plan on modding skyrim and using an ENB with SSAO enabled one 7950 is not going to be enough for a smooth experience. I would wait and see what the R9 290 brings, it should be within your price range - I hope -- I can eat up to 2.8GB @ 1080P @ 8XMSAA with no ENB currently.

$700 range - Very Simple the AMD HD 7990 for $660 CDN - Right now at NCIX - It destroys a Titan providing you have the CPU power: And if you are American you can probably get the card $50 cheaper so go FYS for the fastest Gaming Card on the planet.

Truly, I'm considering buying one. A Single GPU GNC Hawaii R9 290X 512 bit/4G Vs a Duel Tahiti (Malta) GPU 7990 768 Bit/effective 3 GB/6GB vRam GNC architecture Mantle Software receptive GPU Card for the same price - What's really insane just wait for the AMD Single GPU GNC 512 Bit 8GB and Dual GNC GPU 1024 Bit effective 4Gb (8GB) Mantle receptive Cards came next year but guaranteed prices will be over one grand - It seems CF, SLI and Dual GPU Cards are on there way out: http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=83131&vpn=GV-R799D5-6GD-B&manufacture=Gigabyte

Rumor says 700.00 range

wait till Oct 15th for R9 290 / R9 290X reviews and pricing. expected price for R9 290 is USD 449 - 499. probably the best option for you. when overclocked will easily beat HD 7870 CF. but as a single GPU it will provide the most consistent experience and smoother gameplay without any CF related problems.

My previous AMD Radeon Hd 7990 link Is'REAL. Buy the Worlds fastest gaming card for $650 right now or wait for the October 18th release pricing of the AMD R9 290X - Good question what not - Kinda leaves nVidia in the dark.

It's about time we have competition in spite both Mfgr's are conceding Single Card Dual GPU and CF/SLI cards do NOT Work. Unless we have GNC architecture with a software Mantle Game Engine there is no future in Gaming at 1440p - Sish! May be a GNC Daughter card is necessary to carry Kepler - LOL

Believe What Not

As a Canadian this GPU War kinda make's sick because ATi ruled at one time.

I prefer a single card and will wait and see what shakes out on Oct. 15th.
