GPU acceleration for video encoding on 4850

I read about the AVIVO xCode and downloaded it but apparently it's Vista only and it won't install.

I'm eagerly anticipating video encoding with my new gpu (x264 baby!)

Is this ever going to become available? I swear ATI has been talking about this ability since the x1000 series but it looks to me like we're just being screwed around.

Yup it's the Guru3d one... I couldn't find it anywhere else (spent maybe 15 minutes looking, so maybe it's out there)

Thanks for this info. I'm going to check out that software and maybe buy it if it's promising.

well I suppose it'd be nice to do mpeg2 (dvd) encoding on the gpu too, but I'm more interested in mpeg4 support such as h264/x264

hopefully powerdirector 7 won't be mpeg2-exclusive

OK I have researched Power Director 7 and unfortunately it seems that it does not support gpu encoding.

Anyone else have any info on this or other software?
