Aside from the Microsoft Reserved Partition, NT 6.x will create an aligned partition sandwiched by unallocated spaces of about 1MB (which are hidden in Disk Manager). However, depending upon the order in which multiple volumes are created and formatted, such space may not be created between them (but only at the beginning and end as necessary for alignment). So, is it best to ensure they are created for the purposes of resizing or copying or anything else -particularly within Windows using capable third-party proggies?
