I have a friend who's looking to buy my Droid 1, she'd be getting it flashed to Cricket, but in her area Cricket doesn't have 3G yet, would the GPS work using 1x data?

When I occasionally drop from 3G to 1X Maps/Navigation works fine for me, just not as fast when rerouting etc.

GPS uses satellites, separate from cellular data. It'll work fine.

Believe he means because it has to download the map data. It may be slower but it should still work. Also, if you set a route before leaving (maybe on wifi) it will pre download most the data so the it will have even less of an impact.
