GPS Navigation software...for the water...

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good GPS navigation solutions for the water. I would like to use an existing PC or pocket PC instead of buying a dedicated stand alone GPS navigation unit. Unfortunately, I am only familiar with road gps software/maps.

Thanks!

Lowrance is one of the best names in marine navigation. As a rule, the marine units are more expensive though.

GPS is GPS and works the same whether on land or water. Are you looking for shoal or tide info?

Technically, yes, GPS works the same in terms of providing coordinates, etc. However, if I take my pocket pc and bluetooth GPS onto a boat I can't see where I am going because the maps don't show the area. I would like to be able to navigate from one place to another on the water, like a car on land, without manually charting my route. Depth and tide information would be a big plus.

Yes, Lowrance does offer great products and they cost a pretty penny, however, I am looking for a solution that will run on a PC or pocket pc.
