Yeah, I run what's known as a balanced budget here at home. It's a quaint custom that has served me well thus far. No need for me to ask the Chinese or the ME to lend me money.

Topic Summary: I can't wait to hear how we're going to spend our way out of this mess

Republicans never asked that question while they were in charge and soing all this borrow and spend.

Of course now that Dems have the reins it's all their fault.

Still Pelosi?s problem. Why did she let Congress pass that spending?

In 36 minutes the dog and pony show starts. I'm on the edge of my chair in anticipation. I hope those rich meanies we're going to tax the hell out of have really, really deep pockets.

Federal Debt: September 30, 2008 (end of fiscal year)
$10,024,724,896,912.49

Federal Debt: November 7, 2008
$10,566,870,637,263.35

or $542,145,740,350.86

That would be an increase in the Federal Debt of five hundred forty-two billion, one hundred forty-five million, seven hundred forty thousand, three hundred fifty dollars and eighty-six cents in 38 days.

If we're going to complain about spending, why not blame the Congress that passed that spending? Let's not forget H.R. 1424, the $700 billion bailout that she voted for, among other expenditures.

The President cannot spend this if Congress doesn't first approve it.

It's all Obama's economic advisors fault!!!

They have been giving him advice for 3 days now and he is running the country since the election...not Bush and his people!!!

Nice try.

Who was it that proposed the bailout ? Which administration is responsible for the greatest economic disaster in the US since the Great Depression ?

Your blame Fails and history will rightfully judge the moron in the White House as the Worst.

Can we do a balance transfer of the public debt to a Mastercard? Rates are pretty good right now. I got an offer the other day for 2.99% good for the life of the transfer. Not bad..

Clinton had a budget surplus for a reason: no Bush tax cuts for the rich.

Obama will let Bush's tax cuts expire, thank God.

I marvel at the blatant partisanship of some people. So if Bush merely proposed a bad bailout bill, but Congressmembers like Pelosi and Obama actually made it into law, it's Bush's fault? If Congress ignores the president, all his spending proposals become moot, but if they jump on board, you're still saying it's all his fault?
If your investment advisor told you it would be a smart move to "invest" your retirement fund down at the dog track, and you lost everything, who's fault would that be? Your advisor's, or yours for being an idiot?

As I understand the directive of Congress and the stated intent of Hank Paulson's Golden Bailout Bucket of Taxpayer Cash was to purchase CMOs to foster liquidity and interbank lending.

What's this money been used for again?

M&A and strengthening the bottom line via showing up as cash flow on the quarterly/annual reports.
