Ah shinerburke, I always seem to catch the same fish. I know you're headed to conquering the world and are destined to be a great shining star yadi yada. My point wasn't about some fabulous utopia out there; it was about the structure of work in a world in which work will become obsolesent. If the worst conditions require 20 hours, what should our utopia require, five minutes? Remember Moore's law? When is it that computers reach human intelligence. I remember that ten years beyond that they will be so beyond us that the structures they control will be beyond our comprenension or ability to duplicate. We're headed for retirement. You'll have lots of time to think about what really matters. Better hope the machines don't think like you. And be nice, notes are already being taken.
