In other words, are you supposed to clock out when you're at lunch or can you stay on the clock and get paid for a half hour of lunch? I thought you were supposed to clock out, but I've heard differently from others.

I don't get paid for lunch.

Of course, I don't actually clock in or out, I jsut fill out a form online that says when I supposedly came in and left.

I used to work for the federal government for a while. I work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 1 hour lunch <not paid> and I was on salary.

I take 15-minute lunches, even at home... just not that kind of watch-the-clock worker. Would rather get things done and leave (relax in the house).

If I had to clock out for lunch, you can bet I'd be back in 20.

<- state worker, salaried. Lunch is off the clock, though strictness depends on your supervisor
