Government healthcare was good to me today.

I'm working at an inner city clinic today and I'm getting paid for doing pretty much nothing. It's the same place where medicaid said it wouldn't correct it's screw up and let an AIDS patient die rather than give us the information needed to bill them.

I was called in to cover for a pharmacist who had to take today off. Medicaid decided that it didn't like the phone system here and the pharmacy and clinic had to physically disconnect their lines although neither had access to the other. Just a common trunk leading in. So the owner called to have this done, but Medicaid also gave him just a few days to do this, and so it didn't happen. WHAM. They smacked him and he can't bill them. This place services the very poor and there isn't a real alternative around since we stock $$$$$$$$ drugs for our patients.

So the owner is paying me to do nothing, giving out some meds gratis all because some medicaid rep decided that's what he wanted. The regs are written so that the government has the ability to order just about anything it likes.

In the meantime people are going without their meds again.

Hey, I'm getting to sit back and play on line.

Wait till they start "regulating" more.

Yep, the government sure knows how to run health care.

The worst service in my life I've received, and it's enough times I know it's innate to the organization, is in a social security office. It will make you want to suck on a shotgun.

VA's quite a treat too to get started. While business can be screwed up (heaven knows my full time job seems to be run by cockroach brains) they can't make up stuff at a whim and cripple anyone they want.

It's going to be interesting to see when rules and regs are creatively interpreted as they often are when it hits. Being on the inside it's going to be quite interesting to watch it happen.

If its not our goverment fucking shit up, its some business fucking shit up. I wonder how many of these type of problems happen in the UK for example.

This would never happen with private insurance. They wouldn't even CONTEMPLATE jerking a doctor/pharmacy around on payments. Totally unheard of.

They don't have the kind of power to cripple a company on a whim by changing regulations or making up interpretations of regs. Government on the other hand can do just about anything.

But government healthcare will cure all problems!

Well it might if the bureaucracy is completely reined in, is held accountable for it's actions to those it's regulating and it is forbidden to punish anyone for following one reg and not another if they conflict.

Let me know when that happens.

Shouldn't you resign instead of leeching off the government?
Plus your main complaint is that the patients aren't getting meds because the government isn't there to pay for them. So you are complaining about the government doing what you want it to do, which is not paying for health care.

I think it's awesome you are being today's poster child for reasons not to support government run health care.

You are the one supporting government run healthcare. Soon as the government stops paying for meds, you are here whining.

A sample of how the government runs healthcare - arbitrary rules, unreasonable deadlines, lack of payment, and no concern for the patients.

So you are saying when the government does not pay for prescription drugs, its flawed?

You are the one supporting government run healthcare. Soon as the government stops paying for meds, you are here whining.

Oh no, I'm perfectly happy to enjoy the fruits of your philosophy. I've got it easy today, and am paid to do little. It's a nice change. My beef is that others are being harmed by it, but that's not a concern of government or their supporters. What was it you said? Something like "I don't care what has to happen to get this through".

Well, this is what happens on a small scale.

Again thanks. The AIDS patients aren't too thrilled about it. Why don't you post your contact info here so they can tell you how great it's working for them?

The government is failing to do what it is supposed to; and yet people like you want to give it even more duties to fail at.

At least you have admitted that the government is supposed to pay for prescription drugs. :D

It's working for them how conservatives want it to work for everyone, the government is not paying for their care.

Per its legislation, yes, it is. And it can't even do that right; ergo the legislation needs to be changed. So thanks, you admit that the government is failing to do what it is supposed to, and since you can't understand that line, supposed to means what the legalized program tells it to.

So you are happy with the government failing at its self-appointed duties. I get it now - just like you're content using illegal immigrants as slave labor because it keeps your prices low.

Conservative: Government should not be paying for healthcare

Government doesn't pay for some health care

Conservative: Why is the government not paying for healthcare like it's supposed to?
