If the person is the most qualified for the job and is capable of doing the job in an unbiased manner, what does his race/gender/creed/sexual orientation/dominant hand/height/weight/hair color/eye sight/etc have to do with anything?

Ask the tea partiers that. I'm sure if you got enough of them together they could string together a coherent sentence.

In the USA priests are allowed to dole out penance for confessions and they have an exemption where they don't need to report confessed crimes to police.

This whole sharia thing has been mega-hyped, sure it has misapplications in Afghanistan and perhaps a few nutjobs in the US, but the vast majority of muslims in the USA aren't going to stone their daughters to death.

Why is this creating any kind of argument? Anyone who thinks he shouldn't be appointed just because he was a muslim is a fear mongering racist and an idiot.

That isn't liberal or convervative, that is just ignorant and racist or not. That exists on both sides.

Pretty much any reasonable person agrees with this. But then someone spouted off something partisan and that started the usual politics. Some people are so indoctrinated they can't help it.
