Got the iPad4 about a week ago. It's my first foray in the world of apple and I gotta tell ya I'm quite impressed. This thing is much more polished and put together than I was expecting. There's a quality feel to this device I really haven't felt in other devices. I'm still figuring the whole thing out of course. But I just thought I'd share.

It is a nice tablet. I have the iPad3.

I think the mini is the best built tablet. It's built like the iPhone 5, but even better.

Yes if only the mini was retina. But lucky for iPad2 owners it's keeping the thing alive because it's the same hardware.

I am trying to find some killer apps for it. I'm looking for some kind of "live" news/clock/weather desktop app. Any suggestions for that or others would be great.

You try out Flipboard yet to get your news? I love it on my iPhone but people have been telling me it's garbage compared to the amazing iPad version. :(

JUST installed it. Pretty cool. I actually got it printing as well. Got Polaris office on it now as well. I want to actually put this thing to good use and not just content "consumption." I saw some of the accessories for this thing at the local Walmart. Looks like this thing can so much more.

TBH it's when you start trying to be productive with iOS, that's when you'll see the stifling limitations of the OS.

I tried just taking a tablet to work. That didn't last long. Even my Windows 8 Atom tablet couldn't really cut it. So I gave up on the idea of buying a tablet for productivity... at least for now. Though I imagine if I were willing to spend $900, the Surface Pro could probably be quite productive. I'm sticking to my regular chunky ugly laptop for now if I need to be productive on the go.

True, but in my experience more so on iOS than on Android/Windows 8 Tablet -- though Windows 8 isn't fair since it's a full OS.

I mean, what are we saying when we say productive? As in, do my day-to-day job on it? Hells no. The only tablet I could do that on would be the Surface Pro, and at that point, I'll just use a laptop since that's what it is anyway. Also, almost my entire job is Windows dependent. The webapp we use is IE only for crying out loud (it sucks, I hate it).

But there are people that do their job on the iPad, and run businesses off of it and their iPhone, and don't seem to be hating themselves, so it is possible. It just isn't everything to everyone, but I don't think it is supposed to be.

At home I use mine for almost everything I was using my laptop for, and it is more convenient than even my Air, and has MUCH better battery life.

There are thin/light laptops.

Pretty much this. Tablets are for entertainment purposes only IMO (except for some very specific applications).

I can do it with my cheapo Acer Iconia 10" tablet though. just plug in my keyboard & mouse and RDP into my work desktop. Kind of cheating though I guess. :)

And that's why I still don't have a tablet. :)

I'm looking for a good tablet convertible running full Windows 8. But for entertainment purposes, I'm still in favor of the iPad due to the significantly larger tablet based app and gaming choices.

/waiting for 2nd gen Surface Pro

The screens look really nice. I don't know how anyone who's had a retina display could ever stand looking at the horrible resolution on the Mini iPad.

My wife has a Nook Color which looked good until I got this... Might watch the Avengers on it tonight.
