The recommended intake of water is what, 8 cups a day? 10 cups a day? Somewhere around there is a good number.

Does it matter if you take in those 8 cups in, say 2 hours?

Or must you drink water throughout the day for it to "work"?

There is no hard number as to the cups a day for fluids. Basically, if you are thirsty, drink as that's an indication that you are dehydrated. Different people need different amounts and you do get fluid through food as well. I find for me personally, I drink maybe a cup of fluid the entire day until 5 or 6pm then I drink like 5 or 6 glasses in a 2 hour stretch. I don't know why but that's how I am.

The color of your urine is the best way to know how much water you need to be drinking and how often. It should either be clear or light yellow. Any darker and your body needs more water.
