Kudzu barely beat out hemp as an introduced vector to control soil erosion in the mountains of North Carolina; oddly, the deciding factor (supposedly) was kudzu's faster growth, which is what caused it to take over half the state.

Anyway... the fastest growing plant in the world is bamboo, and the fastest growing thing in the world is kelp, so I'm pretty sure yakko's comment isn't true.

St. Augustine Grass (which is actually a weed btw, nothing actually in the grass family really survives the amount of heat & rain in SE FL), can have each blade grow over an inch a day in the summer. So if you look closely you can actually see "grass" grow without timelapse.
