I run a fan site for a popular EA Sports game. A few days ago, a forum member admitted to using a 'burned copy' of the game, and complained that he couldn't get the new patch to work. I banned him from posting and modified his signature so it says:
I am banned because I did not purchase the game. I also admitted to using an illegal copy of MVP Baseball on this website.

If I ever buy the game, I will be welcomed back.

Today I finally get the email asking why. I told him once he has a legitimate copy of the game, I will remove the post ban. He then replys
ok so if I say that I have a legitimate copy of the game i'm in ... so I have a legitimate copy of the game, I won't say that I have a burned CD

This tops my list, surpassing all the CD Key requests I've gotten for the past 4 years... :)

We can't condone or promote illegal use on our site. Especially since we are in talks to partner with EA Sports directly. Its not worth the chance.

I've seen many sites go down for dumber things...

Heh, so what happens if he emails you again and says that he bought a legitimate copy?

He did, right after I told him he needed one. I can always have him meet me or someone in the EASO Lobby to prove its legitimate...

EASO = EA Sports Online

Its the Online lobby to play the game. You need a legitimate copy and CD Key to play there...
