I have come to an impass; here is my situation:

I have taken apart and put back together a system with the following components:

Gigabyte GA5AX Motherboard (untested)
AMD K6-2 500MHz Processor (untested)
(2) 128MB PC100 RAM chips (tested OK)
WD 30GB HD
HP 4x4x24 CD-RW
ATI Rage Fury Pro
Soundblaster X-Gamer 5.1

Windows 98SE, Office 2000

The system runs flawlessly in SafeMode, but freezes in normal mode
With nothing running in the system tray in states 90% free system resources

Does anyone have any suggestions??? Please respond with anything that you might think of that I may have not thought of.

My guess is it's the mobo. However more information is needed before i can make any kind of educated guess.

boto into safemode, and remove all your device drivers (Control Panel>System>device manager) and just delete all your devices (modems, video card, sound card, gamepads, Ethernet cards) and then reboot normally. BEFORE DOING THIS!! make sure you have the newest official drivers for these devices Then reboot normally and let windows redetect and reinstall them all. See if that helps
