I've wanted either this chair or a Herman Miller Aeron chair for a few years now. Found a new, never used, Steelcase Leap on Craigslist for only $500.

For that price I'd expect less plastic

That's where perception deviates from reality. Being partly comprised of petrochemical materials does not necessarily indicate inferiority of the assembled product. They do have their place in a variety of compositions.

I've been thinking about finding one of these myself, since a Herman Miller Envy ain't going to happen as long as college isn't free. Will be interested in your experiences with it.

Those old green steelcase desks were the bomb. Looked like they could withstand a nuclear blast. Wish I had one today.

I try not to spend enough time in front of my home computer to justify an expensive chair.

In my 19+ years in the Army (today is my anniversary in fact), I've seen too many of those go to scrap. The modern particle board/plastic crap lasts mere months by comparison.

I should try to find a few that still remain out there and do like an old car remodeling project on them to modernize it for my home office.

The Steelcase Leap is an extremely adjustable, comfortable, well-designed and quality manufactured chair. I have the black leather one (bought it used for $450) and it's very attractive.

My only real beef is the arm rest adjustments freely move and frustratingly cannot lock into place. It drives me crazy.

I've been considering a Steelcase leap, but I'm not sure these "designer" ergonomic chairs aren't just a load of marketing nonsense.

I bought a Herman Miller Mirra and it was the biggest POS ever. The woven mesh base wore though in less than 2 years and the plastic back is completely cracked and broken. That's a $500.00 chair and it left a major sour impression on me.

If I'm going to drop Texa$ on another computer chair I want to see a solid steel frame, thick leather/upholstery and other signs of quality rather than a space-age design and useless features with made-up names.

Work will be ordering about 1500 or so Leap 462's for our butts that will be in our new building we're moving into in August.

I have no idea what they're planning on doing with these Herman Miller Aeron's that they just got us about 5 years ago. I'm going to ask to see if I can take a couple home.
