I do occasional work for someone who likes gotomypc (no one suggest switching to an alternate remote access software). Anyways, most computers are behind a router and I just have Windows Firewall turned on.
A new computer in a new office is now set up with a wireless gsm adapter, and to get straight to the point, the computer is assigned a public ip address. So a firewall software is necessary. I put on the free version of Zone Alarm, and while yes gotomypc is easy to set up and run, if any new program is connecting out, or there is an incoming blocked packet, a Zone Alarm window pops up from the taskbar asking how to handle the program/incoming packet. This popup window is not accessible from a remote gotomypc connection, and requires someone going out to the office to click on the "allow" button before pretty much anything further can be done.
So that's what I'm in search for, a good firewall program that is gotomypc-friendly so when a window like that pops up, I can properly set it and continue working from the remote connection.
