i think DM comes out the 26th. i played the demo and didn't really find it all that fun. was too much like oblivion which ended up being a bore-fest to me.

I don't see it similar to Oblivion at all. Oblivion is an open free-to-roam world where you can do anything you want, in any order. DMoM&M will be more like HL2... only without guns. You will have a clear-cut "Point A to Point B" and the game won't advance to the next area without getting to Point B.
While, live Oblivion, there will be "rpg elements" to it, such as upgrading your fighting skills by gaining levels, or learning a new spell, it's definitely more of an action-adventure than RPG.

Dark Messiah is in stock at Best Buy here in Connecticut ... I grabbed a copy last night at the same time I picked up FEAR: Extraction point.
Installed both last night but havn't had a chance to play yet.

Anyone notice that Gothic 3 isn't as "polished" as a game like Oblivion? I had the same beef with Dungeon Lords as well. It's just the way the game feels. It probably has something to with inconsistent frame rates. Albeit Oblivion had some variation in frame rates as well, but overall it was pretty consistent.
The same with the interface. Bringing up your inventory/map/quests, it doesn't actually pause the game. All of the action just stops. For instance, if something is attacking you and you bring up your inventory, he just stops attacking and stands there. That just doesn't "feel" like a polished game to me.

Pirahna Bytes, Gothic 3 devs, have admitted that the game was not entirely finished upon release, some bugs and balancing issues that they couldn't get to in time. In fairness, they were working on a much smaller budget than Bethesda was with Oblivion. They also have JoWood as their publisher, a truly crap outfit. Bethesda is big enough to make its own timetable and thus they were able to delay Oblivion to make sure it was relatively complete when it went out.
