Maybe if I moved my modem and router down to the TV room and added a wireless access point there I could then stick a wireless adapter into my desktop and Laptop and be good to go. Definitely a thought.
I designed a setup for a friend of mine exactly like the one you just described. Works flawlessly for him!

Either that, or you could do what I did...hook up the XBOX to a TV tuner card and play it on your monitor with some PCTV software.

And I'm off....destined to get nothing productive done tonight (kind of like this afternoon). Thanks for all the suggestions on games. I think I am going for DOA3 since I have been wanting that title since I first saw it on the Xbox. Thanks again.

If you don't have Halo, it is a must have, and the co-op multiplayer is fun if that is what you were looking for... if you have xbox live, get Unreal Championship, if not, its still a pretty good game... for a group of people (like 4 people) the game Fuzion Frenzy is pretty fun, it is a fun party game and easy to learn how to play (plus its like $20 or less)

Hey Atlantean, did you ever decide on a way to hook up your XBox to your monitor? I posted a reply to your post over in GH with every way I know of.

Nope, haven't had a chance yet, but I just got a dell p1110 monitor, and it has dual inputs, I am going to try sometime this weekend.

Well I ended up buying DOA3 like I had said and don't regret it one bit. That game is just gorgeous...although I think they could have redubbed the game in English...maybe there is a setting I didn't check. Anyway, the graphics are just phenominal in that game. Like when leaves are falling from a tree and you kick through them, the leaves descent actually gets disrupted and sent in a new direction...very neat.

Splinter Cell is great. A very different game than I have played before and really refreshing. I still haven't quite mastered the controls yet, but I love the gameplay. I wasn't all that impressed with the initial training level, but, when I played the first "real" level in the game...good lord, the graphics are phenomenal. The lighting is freak'n awesome. I also like how smooth Sam's movements are...although I think some of the NPC's have some awkward movements...overall the everything is amazing. My only complaint...and maybe because I don't know what I am doing is this...why won't the camera just stay put behind Sam? I like the ability of being able to move it, but when I reset it (clickign the analog stick), I think the camera should stay behind him until you move the Analog stick again. Is there some way of doing it or do I constantly have to move the camera with Sam (after doing it for a while, I started to get used to it, but I would like for the ability to just let the camera follow Sam).

Anyway, I am definitely excited about the Xbox purchase and can't wait to see what other games are out there. I am definitely going to look into a bunch of the games you guys recommended. I wasn't overly excited about Sega GT 2002 so I might have to pick up Project Gotham Racing or Rallisport. I imagine Halo will be my next game though...we'll see how long Splinter Cell keeps my attention.

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

You like DOA3 because of the leaves? Yeah, right.

The convincing physics on unproportionate objects isn't bad either ;)

I agree that the game is definitely written by some rather horny programmers/artists...or just smart ones since s3x does sell. Once you do get over the *jiggle* factor, the actual gameplay is rather good in my opinion.

If you own an Xbox and have not played halo on it you're a she-man!

Also get xbox live and mechassault. I got it for Xmas and it's pretty sweet :D

I had better pick up Halo at lunch today before my girlfriend starts doubting my sexual tendencies. =)

I am definitely going to be picking up Xbox Live in the coming months...just have to figure out how I'm going to get a cable run downstairs.

Halo == "meh"

ducks

Seriously... I didn't see what's so different/good about it from other FPSs, except that you can't have too many people in one game(which really isn't a plus...)

EDIT: I'm not a she-man. No PMs, please.

In an unrelated yet related story, my wife and I started a bet last night on who can lose the most weight by february (We recently had a baby and both gained about 20lbs because we aren't as active as we were before the baby). If I win, I get the X-Box game of my choice (I am currently on a game-buying moratorium). I'm going to have a hard time deciding between Panzer Dragoon Orta, DOA Volleyball, Splinter Cell, and the other games that are coming out. I have MechAssault, NCAA Football, DOA, Halo, and a couple of others to keep me entertained until then :)

Well...when I get married and have kids and start packing on the pounds...I'll remember that strategy...although if I am married to my current girlfriend...I can't imagine what twisted things she'd have me doing if I lost. I think I might have to up the ante to several XBox 4 (or whatever the current system is...I'm 24 and don't plan on getting married any time soon) games.

The system came with SegaGT 2002, so I'll probably hold off on Project Gotham Racing for right now...although the graphics do look a bit nicer in PGR. We'll see how long Sega GT is able to hold my attention. I do love racing games.
I'd take Rallisport Challenge over those two any day. Blows it away in both gameplay (IMO) and graphics (not disputable).

And like I said before, take a look at SSX Tricky. You can probably find it for about $20. I have gotten so much playtime out of it that it's sick, and normally I am not the type who likes those extreme sports type games like Tony Hawk, etc. Graphics aren't revolutionary but it makes up for it with the fun factor and replay value.

Also, I'll second Mech Assault! If you plan on having friends over often for multiplayer (especially more than 2 people) than get Hunter: The Reckoning!

DOA is also a must-have but MK: Deadly Alliance takes up all my fighting time now :)

Agreed...for rally racing fans, there is no equal.
Also, I'll second Mech Assault!
So *WHEN* are you gonna get on XBL, kami?

BTW: Have you seen the Two Towers game that's comin out on XBox?

BTW2: Do I REALLY need to even ask that question?

BTW3: No spoilers...since I haven't see TTT yet.

BTW4: If you want to know why...check my .sig :(

BTW5: Borrowing FOTR Extended Edition from a friend today...gonna try to clandestinely convince Mrs. Tallgeese to watch it this weekend. :D

I want an XBL bad  The only problem is that the only XBL game I have is Mech Assault (well, Splinter Cell as well but that's just content updates). I was thinking of waiting until I get one or two more Live enabled games.

Yes I am anxiously awaiting the TTT game! It's supposed to be shipping Dec. 30...already got money set aside for it!

Go see TTT by yourself if you have to!

Chain Mrs. Tallgeese to the couch and put on FOTR extended! :D

Is it just me or do the textures seem extremely blurry and undetailed in the TTT game coming out for the Xbox. Is this because it is a multiport game and was written with the PS2 as the target?

Those are crappy screenshots...it looks a LOT better in action. And yes, it's basically a direct port of the PS2 version so it doesn't come close to taking advanatge of Xbox hardware..but that's alright cause it's still a cool game!

You GOTTA be kiddin me!

MechAssault has been the ONLY Live enabled game I owned until just very recently.
In fact, I'm prolly just gonna take back Unreal Championship unopened SINCE MECHASSAULT KICKS SO MUCH ASS OVER XBL!!!

Seriously dude...MA over XBL is FANTASTIC!
