I got an Xbox at lunch today and bought a second controller, the S-Video adapter, and Splinter Cell. I also want to get a game for multiple people to play and was thinking DAO3, but wasn't able to find it at the Best Buy I bought everything at. Does anyone else have any suggestions for a game instead of DAO3. Also, has anyone played Kelly Slater Pro Surfer? ...the waves look incredible, but I wanted to know about the gameplay.

I soooo do not want to be at work today. No one is going to be able to understand the specs I write today.

Thanks.

Halo is always a classic. Have any friends that have this game, and an Xbox? Multi-Player is pretty fun. I don't find the actual game (The Campaigns) all that fun. That's just opinion though.

Halo is definitely on the list. I was up in the air between Splinter Cell and Halo, and went with Splinter Cell. Once I finish that game or get tired of it, Halo will definitely be purchased. Right now I want something I can play with some friends....talk trash and stuff. Something like a fighting game or sports game. Does Mortal Kombat have better graphics than DOA3? I have played DOA3 and really liked the gameplay...and the graphics. I admit that Mortal Kombat would be cool...if only for the nostalga (sp?) factor.

Yah PD: Orta looks awesome from the GT/JSRF combo preview.

You could also get MechAssault and play online with a guest :) 1 v 1 isn't so fun though.

Definitely Mortal Kombat. I suggest this only for multiplayer. I rented it and played it a bit, but didn't like it. My then a friend came over, and I didn't want to stop playing versus matches! And I was losing most of the time. It was so fun playing MK with another person, so I definitely suggest getting that one.

Not alot of sports games mentioned. But I just received EA NBA Live 2003, and it is really excellent.

Defintely Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and, as other have said, no Xbox is complete without Halo.

I also recommend Ghost Recon and Jedi Outcast, as well as NHL 2K3 (Live enabled, woo!)

My wife and kids surprised me with an X-Box this year. It was the $199 bundle and an extra controller and DVD movie playback kit. I would like NFL fever 2003 and Halo, and Unreal, and no one mentioned oddworld:Munches oddysee.

I will be buying the live kit to provide hours of enjoyment with my friends here. I have a 768 kbs cable connection to use, so it will be fun to try this live system out.

The Live component definitely appeals to me and I have a Cable modem/router at home, but I haven't determined how I am going to get a wire from my upstairs to my downstairs (computer to TV relationship). Shouldn't be that hard, but don't want to deal with it right now. When I do get Live, I am going to be picking up MechAssault right away.

Is anyone out there disappointed with their Live setup? Everyone I have talked to seems to think Live is great and the second coming for Console games.

I have yet to buy Xbox live due to the fact, I will soon prolly be going without broadband for about a month :( but i hear it kicks ass :D but you could go buy some network cable 1000ft for 60 bucks at my local Fry's run it downstairs hehe heck if you really wanted do like i did run it through da ceiling :D I hate having wires hanging out everywhere. If I do end up gettig broadband again I plan on running some network cable considering I still have at least 900 feet left to use

If my friends had Xboxs than I would be all over Halo Multiplayer, unfortunately I am the only one right now. Hopefully more will follow suit once they have a taste.

The Wireless setup would be great...but that suddenly bumps my investment up a couple of hundred dollars. Maybe someday. I also heard that the latency/bandwidth of a wireless might make the system suffer. Maybe if I moved my modem and router down to the TV room and added a wireless access point there I could then stick a wireless adapter into my desktop and Laptop and be good to go. Definitely a thought.

Be sure and check out the BIG LIST - XBox Deals thread over in Hot Deals.

I consider these games as must-haves for every Xbox owner:
Halo
Splinter Cell
DoA3 (*jiggle*)
Rallisport Challenge
Project Gotham Racing
MGS2: Substance

I also think Xbox Live is a must-have, and if you have Live these are the must-haves:
MechAssault
Ghost Recon
Unreal Championship (I just WISH the framerates didn't suck so bad)

The upcoming must-haves:
SOUL CALIBUR II
Halo 2
PGR 2
DoAX (if ya gots to have *jiggle*)
DoA4
Ninja Gaiden

If you have more money than you know what to do with:
Steel Battalion (I'd get one before the second run sells out, since it will prolly be the last run of this awesome beast)

BTW: If you have Live, don't forget to add your Gamertag to the BIG LIST - Xbox Gamertags thread here in OT!

I designed a setup for a friend of mine exactly like the one you just described. Works flawlessly for him!

Tell me what you used and how you set it up. I can use the same set up for my laptop I presume.

I anxiously await your reply.

Hunter: The Reckoning can be fun to play with other people and by yourself. Its a Gauntlet style game that had a baby with Resident Evil....

Halo is overrated in my opinion...unless ya wanna be like everyone else and jump on a game just cause everyone says its cool than stay away from Halo. Its terribly repetative and lacks variety.

IMHO...Live is an UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS...and I'm sure both Nintendo and Sony are scrambling to revamp their online plans (or...lack of plans).

Live isn't perfect...there are a few details that could be improved...but it gets 98% of everything absolutely RIGHT...and it is DAMN FUN!

MechAssault on XBL is sublime!

SSX Tricky is the most fun snowboarding game out there, and it can be found for cheap!

Ummm...no.

Actually, I would be all about playing some Metroid Prime, but I am definitely more attracted to the game selection on the X-box.

I want to go home now and play my Xbox....this has got to be the longest half day of work I have ever had.

I will definitely be picking up Halo in the near future, but I'm going to hold off on it right now. I'm up in the air about DOA3 and MK:DA. I really liked DOA3 (not just for the *jiggle* factor, but I'm always into realistic physics =) ), but fatalaties are awesome and I wouldnt' mind playing some MK. We'll see.

The system came with SegaGT 2002, so I'll probably hold off on Project Gotham Racing for right now...although the graphics do look a bit nicer in PGR. We'll see how long Sega GT is able to hold my attention. I do love racing games.

Want to go home now....

PGR and Sega GT are completely different style racing games. You can pick both up and it shouldn't cause a problem.

As for other suggestions, if you are getting sports games, stick to Sega Sports. The online component make them the only real choice on Xbox. Once EA pulls the stick out of their @$$es then I might go with Madden over 2K4, but the NBA and NHL games are all Sega.

For the people who are wondering about PS2 and Nintendo online strategy's, it appears that most of the third parties are going to be relying on Sega for their online plans. The SNAP plan is like Xbox Live only using Sega's exsisting network.
