For the last year my work schedule and social activities kept from me waking up before 10:00am-11:00am. So I went to bed last night @ 11:30pm (earliest is a year) and was up at 5:00am. Got myself a cup of timmies (Canadian starbucks) and went downtown to the Thames (London Ont, not England) and watched a sunrise for the first time in as long as I can remember. No pictures, forgot to bring the camera, was beautiful though, the sunrise, the morning smell, the coffee, so worth waking up that early for.

I work the 5th shift here in New York (7pm til 8am Friday thru Sunday) and when time permits I walk up to the 5th floor around Empire State Plaza, look east, have a cup of coffee and think I'm one of the luckiest guys at that moment in time. To be able to breathe, enjoy a cup of coffee, hear the morning songs of the birds in the trees and see a magnificent sunrise. Puts everything into perspective for me.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the sun this morning. I'll have to walk up Monday morning and see it.

This is true.

I had the pleasure of watching a sunrise about halfway up the volcano on Maui last Thanksgiving. Truly amazing.

I remember Ace made a thread like this...

it's funny I always associate getting up early with this horrible feeling of tiredness, but the times I've done it in life, seeing the world as it's just awakening for the day is exhilarating and I end up wanting to do it again and again

I just remember it was about 40F and all we had on were a t-shirt, shorts, and a thin wind-breaker.

There are Tim Hortons in the US. And I don't really care for them, other than their Timbits.

Yesterday morning I took my dog to the park near Westmount mall, right behind that school. We sat on the hill and watched the sun rise.
