My cousin picked up his new Harley V-Rod yesterday. This has got to be one of the most insane production bikes out there.
Tachs out at 9,000 rpm, will blow doors on any rice I've seen on the road. Anyone else rode one of these yet?

ROFL, sure it will. A 600lb 115 horsepower Harley will blow the doors off a ricer sportbike like the Ninja ZX-12R which weighs 150 pounds less and produces about 50 more ponies. What are you smoking, and can you hook me up with your connection?

What makes you think a "ricerocket" is slow? Most of them will have no problem smoking the v-rod. And when you get into tight turns....

Tach's out at 9k? Modern sportbikes tach out at over 14k.

BTW I've ridden with a v-rod on my '94 CBR600 and it did not make my bike look slow at all. It didn't take a very tight turn for him to be dragging hard parts (atleast he rode the thing hard and wasn't just posing like most harley riders).

Have you looked at the prices of new v-rods? That is a very good reason to pass on the 'harleyrocket'

Nice looking bike, I admit.

Slow compared to sportbikes though. That's not the reason to buy one.

Don't even need to bust out the hayabusa specs. A simple Honda CBR F4 will do. Here's my rice.

Hayabusa?

Edit: The specs are 155bhp, 100trq, stock.

Yep, sounds about right. I'm getting about 45 mpg these days at about 75 mph. I actually get worse gas mileage if I go slower. Best is at 75 to 85 mph

I love American iron and rode a '74 Ironhead for 12 years, but Hardleydriven Brokencycles win on heritage, nostalga and managing production numbers to not quite meet demand. They are under-engineered, overpriced and underperforming, when compared to most other v-twins, let alone the sport bikes.

Not to mention they do funny things to your head, judging GroundZero's initial post.

lol ... >30% of the parts on your average >2000 HD come from the pacific rim, primarily Japan and China.

My 1800 cc v-twin Honda VTX was manufactured in Marysville, OH.

I always ride sweep in our group and I carry a fishnet to catch the parts that routinely fall off of the HD's in the front. Plus they won't let me ride in front, because the 1800 cc mule makes so much more noise than the itty bitty ~1400 cc's they've got to push them around.

I never thought a selling point of the V-Rod was its speed. I'm not a Harley fan, but I do think the V-Rod is a beautiful bike. I see a few of them around town...

Yah same here... its a nice bike for sure... probably the only non-sportbike i'd want to own.
