Got this business card on my car..

So I was coming out of class and saw on the window of my car door a business card. At first I thought it was a ticket, because once in a while I forget to put my parking permit thing up..So I looked around at about 4 other cars near me, and didn't see one there. Basically the top says: SUMMER WORK, followed by:

*customer service/sales
*No experience necessary
*Training provided
*100 scholarships awarded annually
*Endorced by the National Academic Advisory Board

And in the top right it said $17.25 BASE/APPT.

So it all seems interesitng and all, especially the scholarship thing, which I don't think you can forge..and I figure the job requires me to answer phone calls or at worse call people when they have dinner and all. Can't be much worse than posting here and annoying people here can it?

Anyone with similar experience in any of this? Is it worth looking into? And if I call them, what should I ask?

<< I'd be willing to bet it's for a telemarketing position. >>

Ooh, how hard can that be? Imagine the stories I'd get to tell!

Yeah, if you can stand the verbal abuse...actually, you probably could judging from the responses to some of your posts 😉.

Actually, I had an ex-gf who did telemarketing for awhile. She said it really sucked. Besides the constant verbal abuse from people whose dinner you've interrupted, you hardly get any breaks, and get bitched out constantly by your supervisor if you don't make any sales. But, WTF cares...if you don't like it, you can quit...not like it's a career! 😀

Is it for Vector? You're selling knives....basically you make money by selling out your friends/family and having them sell out their friends/family.

probably that job where you have to go around selling silverware to your friends, or whoever else you can get to buy it, and you only make top dollar if you sell a ton of sets. call the number and see what they say, and let us know.

Okay, so a guy I know just called them, and the girl he talked to graduated from the same high school as us, and from what I gather:

*it's sales but NOT telemarketing or door to door
*there are felable hours

And he has an appointment later today! He said it sounds very legit and good, and he's about a million times more cynical than me.

Some companies say its not telemarketting, but it truelly is. They are just trying to get you in the door.

Heh heh.. one of the oldest scams in the book.

Didn't someone else here nearly fall into somethink like this? The thread was titled something like, "I'M GONNA MAKE $80,000 PER YEAR!!!" and the content basically said, "I'm gonna make a lot of money and I'll I even get to work from home. I wonder if I should start looking at Corvettes?" Despite dozens of members telling him it was a scam, the person though he was being lied to. Somehow the subject was never brought up again after the person said he was off to meet his employers.

I keep getting cards on my car too. They are yellow and have my license plate on it, also they have boxes checked that say stuff like expired meter, parked in a no parking zone, double parked, and parked during no parking times. Every time I got them I just threw them out. Then one day they put this boot on one of my car's wheels. Had to get out the blowtorch and remove it. I took it to down to the police to complain. After the desk officer's jaw dropped to the floor they arrested me and wouldn't let me go till I paid this huge amount. I tell you what's come of the police today?

P.S. This story is as believable as ones about santa claus, the easter bunny, and the tooth fairy. 🙂

I had a job at vector selling knives once. It was terrible. You talk people into letting you into there home. When you get there they just want to get it over with and have u leave. But if u are good u can talk people into wasting a bunch of money. Not a job for me, i quit after 2 weeks....
