Just in the nick of time too, my USAF terminal leave ends today.

The pay is decent, however, it covers my expenses and there is opportunity to grow. I start this coming Monday. :)

I'm excited, I haven't worked in the civilian sector in 6 years.

Edit - Guess I'll have to pick up some additional business casual clothing.

How long did it take for the recruiter to contact you w/ the job offer after the interview?

I met the first recruiter around 3 May at a Job Fair. He forwarded my resume to their IT recruiter who called me about 2 weeks later, around 14 May. I interviewed with him and their IT department VP. I didn't have the necessary experience to do the sysadmin job that originally applied for, but they liked me, so they forwarded my application to the department manager for CSS. I visited family from 17 May to 25 May and was out of state. When I got back, I followed up and was able to secure another interview on 2 June with their CSS manager. The interview went well and I sent him a thank you email on 4 June. On 5 June, he called me back and offered me a position.

Incidentally, today is my first day. :) Nervousness, I haven't had a 'first' day on a job in a long time. Though, I suppose this really isn't the first day on the job, with the orientation and in processing and such that will occur. Wish me luck. :)

Third day on the job today. Things seem to be going well, though I'm still learning the building layout. Seems I came on during a time of extensive renovation. Entire departments are moving around between floors between two 11 story buildings, so finding the person who submitted the trouble ticket can be problematic. Usually a phone call resolves that though, however, they are beginning a massive conversation to a VOIP phone system, so phone service can also be problematic.

I spent the morning today clearing out a ton of old machines out of a storage room, so they could make room for more storage. Go figure. These machines ranged from Celeron 333s to dual 1Ghz Pentium 3s. Since they were sending them to recycling pile, my supervisor allowed me to move one to the trunk of my car. :) Weekend project.

Hehe, third day on the job and I'm already bringing home junk. Worst case scenario, I have another S@H box.

Wow you used to be in the military. You are lucky to get out alive and well.

No idea why people would think that. Even with the war in Iraq, 99.9% of the military exists the service alive.

I think you meant exits, but exists would be cool too, because that would mean .1% of our military is comprised of ultra-undead units.
