Very happy with the outcome - in low throttle operation is barely louder than the stock airbox. When those butterflies open, deep CSL grown resonates thru the box. Total win!

good work, look nice.

does it add any hp/tq? most intakes seem to enhance sound but butt dynos seem to indicate loss of low-end grunt.

The manufacturer claimed around 20hp with the intake and proper tune, most people see about extra 7-10g of air coming in, so maybe 10hp? I've got headers sitting in storage also, which should help a bit as well.

if you have no tune, you probably see 0hp

Overall I agree with this, though some ECU setups are more flexible than others. It'd be fascinating to see before/after/later dynos (before anything, with intake, with intake+tune), but it's too late for that now, lol.

I have a Dinan intake, MAF sensor and Stage 3 software on my M3. I definitely like the noise better than stock, even if people outside can't hear it. I think theoretically (according to Dinan) it adds 18 BHP, but I have never dyno'ed it and it was on the car when I bought it, so I don't even have an informal A/B butt dyno.

If the intake flows better, the MAF will see more air coming in...

Up to the point where the MAF doesn't peg or run out of resolution or transfer curve table. ;)

Not that 10 HP worth is going to exceed that. You usually have +/- 5 to 10% reserve capacity in the OEM MAF scaling and transfer curve above the OEM design air flow target just to act as a guard band to prevent sudden clipping and to allow for climate variations, revving deep into the redline, etc.

If you haven't done a header, you are throwing away money. Most of the M3 gains are from even the basic Euro header. With something like an AP header, 200 cell cats and borla mufflers plus a tune most are picking up 50RWHP.

It's enough to transform the car.

A lot of the gain in a real CSL intake also comes from it's special engine management software.

This thread is not just about performance but a work in progress which is quite easy to see so leave it on that track...

He's just showing off his latest mod, no need for all this.

Halik - Still a +1, looks good, nice to see someone with a m3 focusing on the performance aspect :thumbsup:

Halik, that thing is simply sexy.... I'm rarely a fan of black wheels but that definitely does it for me.

Why haven't you gotten your windows tinted? I haven't done mine, yet, on my z4 m.. Still trying to decide if I care enough since it's rarely in the sun and all that.
