I wish I could help ya out, but you might be better off asking for a bios with the 4th quad locked since there arent too many 8 pipe 6800 GT's or GS's floating around;)

you probably ar ebetter off selling the quadro and buying a new video card.

its should be flashable, but you might have to do some mod to the hardware. i believe you can actually just run rivatuner or something like that and make it think its a geforce4 instead.

Just install the ordinary Forceware drivers and you will have the same performance as a Geforce 4

What games are you trying to run on it?

He's like me in that he pretty much only plays the CnC games and that city of heroes game.

i am not sure about the power draw for agp. but xbitlabs has done a lot of tests of the 6800 pci-e vs 6600gt and the 6800pci-e actually draws less power than the 6600gt.

19amps on 12v is probably plenty.

19Amps should be plenty. I've got 24Amps for my 7950GT and there is no power problem with it.

Mybe it is not getting enough power from mobo? Check 24 and 4 pin power connectors.

I'd try it on another mb/psu.

Anyway - at least bumped it for you.

A 8800GTS would be better overall.
Better IQ (angle independent AF, CSAA up to 16xAA, HDR plus AA etc) and faster overall in most modern games. It isnt crippled by SLi limitations e.g SLi profiles for new games, dual monitors, vsync etc.

Hmm, yeah. But 512bit memory ( 2x 256bit ) combined with 1024mb ( 2x 512mb ) for a grande total of 1gb of video memory with an insane 102,400 GBPS memory bandwidth and add in that a 7950GX2 outperforms 2 cards of identical speed in a regular Sli setup then top that off with a bit of 7900GTX Sli beating a single 8800GTS in most cases and you have the potential for a single 7950GX2 OC version beating a single 8800GTS I believe. Unless I'm mistaken.

Also I'm not as much of a speed freak as others but I would like to get a card that will get me more speed without having to upgrade any time in the near future. Plus I only play games like COD2 anyways ( THEY WILL PAY FOR NOT GIVING ME COD3 ON THE PC !!!! ).

Games I will be playing with my card :

All CoD games
CS DoD ( Oh yeah, gotta love the oldies )
AVP 2 ( Nostalgia en mass )
All C&C games ( albeit Tib sun )
All MoH
All Splinter Cell games

And that about sums it up : )

Your wasting your money if you buy a 7950GX2.

Firstly 7950GX2 DOES NOT have 512bit memory bus and DOES NOT have 1024mb of Vram. This is because of the SLi limitations. Even though fillrates double your memory bus/Vram doesnt because of the nature of SLi.

Of course 7900GTX SLi will beat out the 8800GTS in most cases but thats expected. However a 8800GTX can beat both 7900GTX SLI and 7950GX2 quad SLi. A 8800GTS can be OCed to GTX performance anyway.

LInk

Look at that review and see just how fast the 8800GTS is. The 8800GTS/GTX is also already leaps better in terms of IQ compared to the 7 series.

Wow, all this considering my OP didn't ask for an oppinion on whether to buy a 7950GX2 or 8800GTS but simply what 7950GX2 came with the highest stock speed.

Any chance you guys can stop telling me what card I want to buy with my cash ? I want to and AM going to buy a 7950GX2, so if you don't know what 7950GX2 is the fastest @ stock please do NOT post here.

Omfg it's sad how many people turn a thread into the exact opposite of what it was intended for. If you want to tell someone what card to buy please find a thread where someone wants to know what one to buy, I however want to buy a factory OC'd 7950GX2 so I can see for myself. If I waste "MY MONEY" then I waste "MY MONEY" but guess what ? It's "MY MONEY" and I can waste it however I want. If I want to I'll go out and spend $1200 on an Athlon XP-M system, THEN I'll go spend $500 on a Gainward BLISS 7800GS+. And you know what ? IT'S MY MONEY AND I'LL SPEND IT HOWEVER IN THE HELL I WANT TO !!!! KEEP YOUR DAMNED OPPINIONS OUT OF MY THREAD IF THEY DO NOT PERTAIN TO MY OP !!!! RUIN SOMEONE ELSES THREAD YOU PATHETIC ILLITERATE MORONS !!!!!

Thread crap again and so help me god I'll grab a mod. This is getting fn ridiculous that someone cannot get the type of oppinion here they want without 100's of you losers chiming in about something not related to the OP, if you want to debate something find a thread for it and debate it there. Meanwhile do NOT post in my threads unless your post pertains to MY thread.

Get a grip! People are trying to help you...get whatever you want if you get angry at other people's well-intentioned advice.
They're all the same speed for core/mem so they are all the same speed at stock...duh.

Holy bejesus batman, calm down :Q
Just take a look at Newegg and do a comparison between all the listed 7950GX2s, and it should show you.

Do that, it's probably the fastest method.

Also, technically posting about the 8800GTS > 7950GX2 does pertain to the OP :p.
