Just got an old original copy from work that nobody's using... But I can't find the manual and the Serial # required to use the software. I have the original Win 98 (not SE) version that came with my first computer but I'm building a new system and want to install the "unpatched" version of 98SE...

Anyone have a keycode to unlock my copy of Win 98SE? The way I understand, many codes will work on my disk -- there doesn't have to be just one specific one...

ITS A LEGAL COPY!

I'd suggest you edit out your request. Some may view your request as an attempt to pirate Windows 98SE, and you stand a distinct chance of being banned from AnandTech Forums by the Moderators for asking for such things.
While you may/may not have lefitimately obtained said product, the odds are too great that the serial number would be wrongly used were it posted on a public forum such as this.

I understand it may very well be an entirely legal copy, I'm not trying to say your lying at all. It's just that it's hard to prove definitively that you do indeed have a legal copy, and besides that if one was to post a serial number for the OS another person that does not have a legal copy may come along and use it on his/her pirated copy of Windows 98SE.
That's the reason the Moderators to not permit requests for serial numbers for applications. They tend to enfore the rule rather vigorously.

Generally threads in which serial numbers are requested are usually deleted rather quickly, and the originator of the post is occasionally banned.
