Woke up today and checked my Rutgers application status online. They just received my SAT scores and HS transcript yesterday, so I wasn't expecting news for a few weeks, but there it was! I've been accepted to Rutgers :).

Now, just 9 more schools go to :/.

 <-- you'll have plenty of that at college

congrats though, I'm a freshman at college now, so I remember the anxieties of the college application process all too well. but it's worth it in the end, college is a blast!

It's all fun and games when you get the acceptance.

Then you actually gotta pull through 4 years of crap...

I'm going to grad school with a guy that went to Ruger's, he really loved it. They give you any scholarships?

Yeah, 4 years of college is hard (assuming you're engineering or science). But it's actually a lot of fun at the same time.

Niiceee..it all goes uphill from here, from the first day you go into your dorms to the day you lose your virginity, until the day you graduate. Then it all goes down hill from there.

Hahaha yeah, I went a little overboard with the schools I'm applying to:

Cornell University (Early Decision)
Northeastern University
Boston University
Syracuse University
Pittsburgh University
University of Maryland
Rutgers University
Hobart & William Smith College
Ithaca College
Purdue

I'm looking to major in most likely business, but possibly with a minor in communications/public relations.

I must be sad or something because I only applied to one school. Was accepted immediately and graduated from there in 04. Applied to one grad school, was accepted and am currently attending there.

Same. I don't understand this idea of applying to lots of schools and counting the acceptance letters. I knew where I wanted to go. I was accepted and I could care less about other universities.

b/c what if I'm not accepted to my number one choice? It's just schools to fall back on, and it lets me reach a little further then I would be otherwise. Sure, it might be a waste of time, but I figure that this is the rest of my life; what's one more application if there's even just a 1% shot?

Not everyone can be as "sure" about their life as you were. If they are willing to pay the application fee, whats the harm?

I guess there's no harm, and I probably didn't shoot as high as some people do. For some universities acceptance isn't guaranteed even to exceptional students.

Congratulations SLCentral. I didn't mean to cheapen your achievement.

You must be a genius! (not sarcasm). I'm applying to 10 different grad schools because I don't feel any certainty for any of the schools. I feel bad for the professors taking care of my recommendations!

It's an amazing feeling when you get your acceptances, assuming they are indeed acceptance letters as opposed to rejections. Then you know that whatever you did in high school has paid off so that you can take the next step.

:D. I'm in such a good mood, if I don't get into any of my other schools, I won't care.

Okay...thats not true :p.

If you're looking for business and are willing to go as far as Purdue why in the world didn't you apply to UIUC? It's only an hour or so farther.

because if you only apply to 1 and dont get in you are fucked, untill the next round of admissions, unless you are lucky and still have time,

i applied to 5 i think, didnt hear back from any till the spring, all apps were due before xmass IIRC,

and the app fee is what 40$ really not that big of a deal

Congrats :)

Times are alot different now than even 10 years ago. The competition for entry into colleges has increased significantly AFAIK, so these days it's really wise to apply to a few different schools. Back in my day (god I feel old LOL) I only applied to one school because I was limited to only a few schools that taught my desired major (Architecture / Industrial design). Only one of those was an "in state" school for me and that would give me a lower tuition cost. :) So that's where I went. (Auburn University)
