Ok got the new Evga Gtx 570 HD up and running. First things first. The card is about 1 inch smaller than a normal Gtx 570. Its about the exact same size as the new Gtx 560. The fan is also the same size as the Gtx 560. The card itself defaults to 40% fan speed. Its quiet but not super quiet. Idle temp is about 38 in my case, which is well vented and cools my system well. I played BC2 for about an hour, temp was about 65 which is not bad at all. I was playing at 1920x1200 with 16x AF and 2x AA and it was smooth as butter, even during explosions it didn't slow down at all. I would like to slow the fan speed down to about 30% but as of right now the Evga Precision doesn't allow you to lower it below 40%. I am told by people at Evga that in the new verison coming out you will be able to lower to 20% if need be. I do like how short this PCB is, its about 9 1/2 inch which is great. My only concern is the fan. It is a tad to loud for me. But I am a silence freak so I bet for 95% of the people out their it would be fine. Also I think it has to do with the fact that the fan is running at 40%. Once I lower that to 25-30% it should be much more to my liking. I'll report more when I have more time to really dig into this card, sometime this weekend...

We already know how the 570 performs from the bazillion reviews out there... Only interesting thing here is whether it's quieter than reference.

Yeah that is what I was trying to talk about. Benchmark wise it will be the same as every other reference card out their. Its more for the Heat and Noise levels. I don't have a reference card to compare it too, but like I was saying its alot shorter then reference and it is quiet, but I'm not sure how quiet compared to the original. It idles about 40 and loads about 60-65

We told you to get the twin frozr 570 if you wanted a quiet cooler and you totally disregarded our posts and go with that cooler. Ofcourse its loud. We told you it was going to be. Why don't you people listen?

Many bios/fan configurations have a minimum fan speed of 40%, some 30%. This is so user or software conflicts never drop the speed any lower under any condition. Also some fans don't start and stop reliably beneath a certain rpm threshold. And to avoid certain melt downs by possible user/software 'mistakes'.
That looks like a 90 or 100mm fan, in a open shroud, I would think that it is not very loud at 40% at all. Certainly quieter than blower type fans.

My reference asus gtx 580 is idling at a chilly 36c right now. Not bragging just happy but I paid $377 for it newegg open box. :) Can't beat a 580 at 570 prices.

Ok I take that back I can set the fan speed so it isn't locked. But I can only go from 40%-100% I wonder if the Artic Cooling Twin Turbo Pro would work on this...

Yes I tried the MSI one as well. They both will not go lower than 40%.

I'm not quite sure I understand the appeal of this card. So, EVGA paired up a GTX 570 with a GTX 560 PCB and cooler, why is that better then than original version that came with a cooler designed to work for a GTX 580?

I see no appeal with this card as well. Reference cooling is for the birds.
