Got the answer... Thanks!

I have an XP Pro machine w/ a shortcut to a network folder on the desktop. When I double-click the folder, it opens search, not the folder contents.

When you right-click on the folder, SEARCH is on top. I need it to default to OPEN. Any ideas on how to re-order this list?

I have no idea how this happened, I just need help 🙂

You can try:

a) delete shortcut and make a new one

b) try rightclicking to get to properites and see if the target is set correctly

This thread is for my wife. She made me post it in the wrong forum.

She is desparate, therefore I am desparate. 😉

She already tried doing that. Any other suggestions?

I would download ad aware and spybot and see if you've got some kind of crap installed on there messing up your right click options.

have you installed tweakxp, tweak ui, or the like? they can modify your right click menu options, and have been known to remove things on accident as well. Although this sounds like a connectivity issue. most likely, the network resource your link points to is not available, or you don't have the permissions to access it. It defaults to search because it is looking for the location, but can't find it. try manually locating the network folder in windows explorer to see if it's available.
