As the title says...I got the Westy on BF from BBY. I purchased a wall mount as well and got it up on the wall yesterday. Now I got a bunch of wires hanging and I want to hide them. I was thinking about drilling a hole behind the tv and routing the wires that way but then realized that wouldnt do much.

I have a Tivo and dvd player connected to the tv as well as the cable wire. I was thinking about putting 2 shelves next to the TV on the right side and putting the Tivo on one and the dvd player on the other. What do you guys think about that? I can hide the wires from the tivo and dvd player pretty easily by doing that and then with the power cord from the tv - i can just get some pvc - paint it the color of the wall and hide it that way. I need some more opinions though. Please help!

Here are the pics!

My friend is an installer for HiFi Buys and when he wall-mounted the TVs in my bedroom and bonus room, he cut a hole behind the TV and near the floor. He routed the necessary wire through the holes. They come out of a wall plate that just has a big hole in it. It worked perfectly and I don't see any wires.

Yeah but if I cut a hole behind the TV then I'll have to cut another hole behind the bureau for the power cord and then another hold where I want to put the shevles...it would be pretty pointless

Plastic conduit if you don't want to/aren't allow to cut holes in your wall.

What is that and where can I get it?

Also, what kind of shelves should I get to hold a tivo and dvd player (2 shelves)? Can I just go to Home Depot and get it there?

Ditto on the plastic conduit. THere is flat one that you can run several wires, with screw holes directly into the drwall or some sort of tape.

Check out Lowes in the electrical aisle, they have stuff for just this very thing. It comes apart to put the wires inside and is sticky on the back for the walls. Just paint it and you're done.

Sweet, I'll check it out. Thanks!

Now for the shelves....what do you guys think about my idea about having 2 seperate ones on the right side of the TV? Would I be able to pick up shelving from Lowes as well? If so, what kind should I get?

You know, I read the thread title, I know my dog breeds. Even though I am a cat person, this struck me funny. A WESTY, is known as a West Highland terrier, and on the BF, (Boyfriend) in the bedroom? o_O :p Duuuuuude.

I'm lazy, I would just tiewrap the cables into a bundle and call it a day. Tiewrapped calbes don't look so bad and if you ever need to change or add anything, less work. Plus, no troublesome permanent modifications.

Little update to my project....

Last week I went to Home Depot got some wood for the shelf, cut it into my dimensions, stained it, glossed it and put it all together. This is how it came out.....

Now for the final part of the project I need to find the wire channels (i think theyre called that) paint it, wrap the wires in it and stick it on the wall. I went to Home Depot but couldnt find them. I was in a rush so I decided I'd go back when I had more time.

Comments?

Good effort......but honestly it still looks like a weekend warrior crap job. Oh and there aren't any vents on top of that TiVo box are there? Might want to consider the heat build up if there is. And hopefully you mounted the shelf on a stud or used some SOLID wall anchors in that drywall. Good effort though. Keep it up.

yikes....a weekend warrior crap job lol. thanks for the positive comments ;) maybe you should come over next time and install it for me.

there are no vents on the top of the tivo or the dvd player. the tivo has a fan and vent in the back so it gets blown out the back. the shelves are mounted into studs so dont worry the shelf wont collapse.
