Got steam gift cards to spend

cmdrdredd

Lifer
I have $100 in steam cards to spend and I am going to get rayman legends. That leaves $60 and I have been trying to think of something else I haven't played yet and realized Batman arkham origins is there and I never played it. Is it worth buying? How does it compare to asylum? I did read some reviews but actual player experiences and opinions mean more to me. Just trying to spend this unless there is something coming soon.

I'm personally not a Batman fan as a whole, kind of saw the Arkham games as being Batman's Creed, in terms of play style. That said, though I don't have much for personal feedback on the matter, I haven't seen anyone sway from the popular opinion that Origins is too similar to the other games, and it's seen as the weakest in the series by far. However, it mostly sounded like the complaints were that Origins wasn't WORSE, it just was stale (similar to how Assassin's Creed got for me).

I wouldn't preorder Thief unless you must play it asap. It is a Square Enix game, their games drop in price so damn quick, in a few months time it will be $20 or under.

Unless you'll be playing the games you want to buy right away, I have a really hard time recommending buy stuff at non sale prices on Steam. Especially with Rayman Legends having been on sale for 50% off before already and with Batman Origins you can grab nvidia codes on ebay for like $20 or so.

My personal recommendation? Just buy games that go on sale you want as they come out or preorder a game that you want to play asap, anything else just feels like wasted money imo.

I need games to play until the next round of march/April releases heh. Anyway I was gonna get thief probably anyhow so I went ahead and ordered it. It was 10% off which isn't that bad for $44.99. So I still have some left over if I see a sale.

What the hell is wrong with you, you don't have a backlog of games from previous Steam sales like all the rest of us?! This is the reason for backlogs and spending a bit more during sales, so we don't have to pay MSRP/or close to it 😛

No because I don't buy a pile of games I know I'll never play. I don't just buy games because they are cheap. I only selectively buy games I know I'll finish and I actually do finish them all lol. Plus as you know, I spent a little over $2k on the new consoles + games so have been doing the console thing for 9 months or more. Between finishing my PS3 and 360 games and playing the next gen titles, I haven't really done anything on PC nor paid attention to any sales. This is actually my first week firing up steam since Metro Last Light.

Borderlands 2. I wasn't a fan of the art style when I saw it but I picked it up during the steam sale. Its one of the funnest fpses ive played in s long time, great humor and production value and lots of content!

Have you played the other batman games? It's good but not much difference from Arkham City. If you haven't played that I'd get that as it's cheaper and very good.

Consider Saints Row 4 and Assassin's Creed 4.

I never said buy games you wont play, but buying games you know you will play but just can't at that moment they are on sale is good to do though. When you have a time when you have no other new games, you can go to your backlog and be fine till the next thing comes out you want or wait for a sale, saving more money.

And no, I didn't know you spent xx and been solely playing console games for so long. I still stand by what I said previously though.

I did play AC4 and enjoyed it on PS4. Great game IMO.

I know you've visited the console forum sometime between June of last year and Today right? lol

That's where most of my focus went, on the new consoles. As I said, I haven't turned steam on since I finished Metro LL.

I did play all the previous ones. I was afraid it would not be as good given that Rocksteady didn't make this one and the villan is B-List. However a lot of the reviews were mixed and I didn't ever ask people about how they felt when playing it. Did it live up to the legacy of the previous games which IMO were quite good for an action brawler.

I've had it since launch, don't get the hype but the shooter mechanics are solid. It's not a bad game if someone just wants something to play. The story actually made some sense this time too heh. Claptrap is a great side character.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm sure there will eventually be something that catches my eye. I'll probably just hold onto what's left of my credit until then.
