Got someone at work you hate, because they cant keep the jokes from being personal?

I have one at work here. He just cant seem to keep the jokes from becoming personal. Jokes about your car, your way of work etc is all good... but when he starts talking about peoples wives, and their kids... thats another story.

What is the best idea how to handle it? In a non violent manner that is...
