Got some shure e3gs

How would I go about getting better bass response with the e3gs? I am using the medium hard rubber earbuds, as they seem to give the best sound isolation from the outside world. I am used to listening on my klipsch speakers, granted, but the bass is still lacking IMO. Any ideas on what I can do?

Make sure they fit properly. If you don't have them fully in the ear or if they're too loose the vibrations will be heavily reduced in the space between the buds and your ear canal.

E3C (or E3G, doesn't really matter much) just lack bass. They're made for accuracy and clarity. The UE super.fi 5 PROs that I got are great with bass and accuracy. I traded in my e3c for that. If you look at the right place, it will even be cheaper than e3c retail.

The seal it makes with your ear is the factor, get those foam pads I told you about 😛

I have heard that the 3c's don't have a crazy bass response but if they are similar to my e2's I had to get the foam pad right in order to get any bass at all. The rubber inserts suck in my mind.

exactly.. play them on medium volume every night for a week and they should have better bass response

Use foam tips. Comply tips offer slightly better bass.

Overall, you can't get low bass, though. Somewhere around 25-30Hz, it just falls off completely.

<- using E3c, saving for UM2

I've had the UM2's for about 2-3 months (paid ~$240).

absolutely AMAZING! Worth every penny and then some...

A few of people are saving up for the UM2's. I never tested them, but I did read up on them and I think I must agree with WIRED Magazine's IEM showdown, which has been placed at UE's website.

Yet then...

(in short: the guy running the place loves the UM2)

You'll find people loving the Super.fi 5Pro, UM2, E5, or E4, among those who've tried the competition.

Consensus cannot be reached, and auditioning IEMs is expensive. The Wired folks also omitted very important information (like the Shure and Westone tips being interchangable, or that you can get more tips for the Etys), showing they didn't do much homework, and also may not have listened to each for very long (it can take a day just to get used to the sound of a different kind of tip).

Good find Cerb.

In the end, it's a lot like buying a monitor, I believe. It's your senses, so it's very subjective. Where you may want accuracy, I may want a little bass, and someone else may just want booming bass.
