Got some questions

Getting a new Epox 8RDA+ Wednesday and need to know a few things before I put it in. Should I apply thermal paste under the northbridge cooler or is it fine the way it is?

I am currenty running a 1600+@2100+ pali core at default voltage@166FSB on my Epox 8k3a+. Am guessing since I ordered a new cooler and the Nforce 2 board with PCI/AGP lock I should be able to push it to at least 185FSB with a voltage increasment. So would I be pushing the board enough to where I should add thermal paste and maybe a small fan to the northbridge cooler?

Also is the PCI/AGP locked by default or do I need to lock them in the BIOS? One last thing hows the onboard sound?

I plan on adding a small heatsink to the southbridge no matter what.

Thanks

I think the PCI/AGP lock is on by default. The sound is pretty good, and the enviro effects are fun. My header's SPDIF out didn't work well with my digital speakers though, so I'm using a Santa Cruz.

^Sniper^, I don't think you should be expecting to push your Pally that much. It's an older .13 core, so I think getting it to 1700 or more MHz is plenty. Blackroot, you could push your Barton to 2.2 if you have 3200 ram (11 * 200) easily, and you could continue on to 2.3GHz if you want.

As for the SB, it'll most likely have a heatsink already if you're getting a rev 2.0 or greater. Yes, the SB is quite hot for a SB.

Have had it running at 1.74ghz for months now with no problems at defaut voltage. I figured I should be able to hit at least 1.9/2Ghz @ 1.8/1.85. Or do the pally's not overclock well over 1.7Ghz?
