got them from a farmhouse. i'm pretty sure they have/have had fleas so i went and bought some drops and a few collars. i just read that i can't use the collars on cats yougner than 12 weeks and i can't use the drops on cats under 4 months.

how can i go about getting them "flea free" because i don't want fleas in my house:(

Substitute Flea Dip
Just last week I brought home a new kitten with fleas. A friend of mine had once told me that Dawn dish detergent kills fleas, so I decided to try it before buying any expensive shampoos or dips. I was shocked! It killed the fleas almost instantly! I had to apply it twice to get all of them, but you have to do that with almost any flea product anyway. But Dawn worked great! So next time you need to get rid of fleas, try that first! Dawn not only takes grease away, it takes the fleas away too! Good luck!

Talk to your vetinarian. Some drops can be lethal to cats, I've been told to avoid Hartz in particular. For older cats, get something directly from the Vet which is guaranteed to be safe such as Revolution. It's expensive, but it's worth it to ensure your cat isn't getting exposed to possibly toxic drops from other brands. Buying it for 6 months at a time will score you a seventh packet for free at some vets.

that revolution or atvantage works well - and it's not super expensive. I think there's a third product that's similar to these too.

When I got my kitty we used Zodiac brand flea spray on him, he was just loaded with fleas. Didn't hurt him, killed them all right away. We got it at a pet store or Petco or something like that. Probably wouldn't hurt to give them a flea bath (flea shampoo.)
